Services were held in the New Hope Baptist church Friday afternoon for Mrs. Melissa Ann Lambert, wife of the late J. L. Lambert and member of a prominent Lawrence county family, whose death at the home of her daughter, Mrs. R. F. Thames near Monticello, at noon Thursday followed a sudden heart attack. Mrs. Lambert, who would have been ninety-one on February 9 of this year, had been as well as usual until stricken with a sudden heart attack.
Pallbearers were six grandsons: Swain Lambert, Ray Thomas Lambert, Jere Thames, Ford Thames, Emmett Thompson and Roby Thompson.
Mrs. Lambert, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ezekiel Reid of Lawrence county, was Miss Melissa Ann Reid before her marriage many years ao. Her husband died in 1918. Mrs. Lambert had for many years been a member of the Antioch Baptist church. She was the mother of the late W. T. Lambert of Monticello who was superintendent of education in Lawrence county at the time of his untimely death five years ago this January.
Mrs. Lambert leaves two sons: J. L. Lambert of near Monticello and H. W. Lambert, Brookhaven; two daughters: Mr. R. F. Thames of near Monticello and Mrs. Carlos Wallace of Monticello; twenty grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
