Born in Offerle, Kansas, Leonard lived with his family in Offerle. When Leonard was in the First Grade, he moved with his family to Holcomb, Kansas. He has lived in Holcomb since. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. After the service he returned to Holcomb where he worked as a lifetime Farmer and Stockman. He married Dodnna Clark on May 26, 1954 in Garden City, Kansas. Leonard is preceded in death by his parents, a son Wes Mader, a brother LaVerne Mader and a sister, Jeannete Peterson.
