THE FAMILY OF ISRAEL DAUGHERTY
Israel Daugherty was a prosperous farmer and stock raiser who resided on section 28, west of Clark's Hill. Israel was born Nov 8, 1829, in Clarke county, Ohio, the son of Daniel Daugherty of Philadelphia. In 1844 his family moved to Missouri, but shortly after came to Indiana and settled in Montgomery County. In 1856 Israel came to Tippecanoe County and acquired 300 acres the same year. He was married twice, first to Elizabeth Horney, daughter of Paris Horney. There were 5 children, Paris, Luella C., Minnie, Jennie K. and Elizabeth. Mr Daugherty remarried to Orlantha Montgomery, daughter of Miles and Margaret (Kellenbarger)Carver, widow of Christopher Montgomery. Of this marriage there were 3 children; Villa, Charles and J Quincey. Charles was the father of Herschel Daugherty who became a director of films in Hollywood, California
