He was a retired Baptist Minister and a retired machinist. He wa also a veteran of World War I, and a member of the Anniston Baptist Church. He had been a resident of Anniston for 61 years.
On Sept. 22, 1924, he married the former Miss Lucille Holdiness. She survives.
Also surviving are five sons, O. V. Coffer, Doyle Gene Coffer, Henry Dale Coffer, Larry Wayne Coffer and Charles Bradley Coffer; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Leota Grace; four sisters, Mrs. Lee Browning, Mrs. George Poley, Mrs. Leonard Barnes and Mrs. Maloy Jackson; two brothers, Bishop Coffer and Herman Coffer; 11 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
A son, two sisters and four brothers preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held today at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. Burial was in the Anniston Cemetery.
