Note February 26, 2019:
Lutheran family Books of Aichelbach, Württemberg, Germany verify that Johan Adam Ellinger (aka Adam John Ellinger), born February 5, 1845, was the son of Gottlieb Friedrich Ellinger and Rosina Heller.

Note Dec. 11, 2017:
The paragraph listed below was written by Rosetta Martin. It doesn't jibe because John Ellinger was born Oct. 16, 1849 and Sophia Müller was born August 9, 1852. Both Adam and Johannes (John) were born in Aichelbach, Germany. Since their birth years are so close I am wondering if he could have been a brother to Johannes (John). More research is needed to determine the parents of Adam.

Son of John and Sophia Muller Ellinger, he immigrated in 186_. He married Elizabeth Michael [Miekel] in El Paso on Dec. 5, 1867. They farmed near Charlotte in Sullivan Twp. of Livingston Co. until retiring to Chatsworth. They had five children.

Added by Jan Dishon, Feb. 5, 2013:

Adam J. Ellinger died at 3:30 o'clock Tuesday morning, October 27, at his home in Chatsworth. He was past eighty years of age and his last illness was of about three months duration, the care of a professional nurse being required the last three weeks.

The funeral services were held at 1:30 this afternoon in the Evangelical church, Rev. Mr. Moehl, of Joliet a former pastor of the church officiating, assisted by Rev. C. J. Krell. Interment was made in West Lawn cemetery at Cullom.

Adam John Ellinger was born on Feb. 5, 1845, at Aichelbach, Wurtemburg, Germany. He came to America in 1865 and settled at El Paso, Woodford County, Illinois. On Dec. 5, 1869, he married Miss Elizabeth Michael at El Paso. In 1869 the family moved to Sullivan township. Mr. Ellinger remained on his farm from 1869 until 1909 when he and his wife retired to make their home in Chatsworth.

Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Ellinger. Four survive to mourn with the widow the loss of the husband and father whose active career has closed. Two daughters preceded him in death; Annie (Mrs. Attig) died in 1907; Margaret died at the age of three years. The survivors are Chris Ellinger, Cullom; Mary (Mrs. Jonas Hill); Kate (Mrs. John Gelmers) Chatsworth; John, of Cullom.

A brother, a sister, and a step brother of Mr. Ellinger live in Germany.

Mr. Ellinger was one of those study pioneers who industry and integrity have been so great a factor in the development of this section. He was a member of the Evangelical church and a citizen whose character and career won for him the esteem of a large number of friends.
