Died on Great Brook

The funeral of D. W. Austin, who died April 8, aged 62 years, five months, was held at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry Sage, on Great Brook, April 11th at 11 o’clock. The services were conducted by the Rev. H. T. Hill, pastor of the South New Berlin Baptist Church. There were many offerings from friends and relatives, including roses from the King’s Daughters and Willing Workers circle.

The relatives present from out of town were Frank Wooster and wife, Binghamton, Mrs. Jared Sprague and little daughter Mary, Syracuse, and Warren Matterson, Norwich.

Burial was made in the family lot in South New Berlin. Charles Boyce, Leslie Boyce Harry Hill and Fred Brooks acted as bearers.

He leaves two daughters, Mrs. Sage and Mrs. Wooster, mentioned above, a son, Millard, two brothers, Luman and William, and a sister, Miss Augusta Austin.

After a battle with disease lasting for years, the rest so longed for was given to D. W. Austin on Saturday evening last at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry N. Sage, where with his son Millard he had resided since the death of his beloved wife about two and a half years ago.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Henry N. Sage of this place and Mrs. Frank Wooster of Binghamton, also one son, Millard, who has been with his sisters devotion itself to the invalid father. Besides his immediate family, he leaves two brothers, Mr. Luman Austin and Mr. William Austin, and one sister, Miss Augusta Austin, all of whom reside in this town. The funeral was held on Tuesday forenoon at 11 o’clock at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Sage. The service was conducted by the Rev. Mr. Hill of the Baptist Church.
