Paula Joyce McKinney, 55, of Des Moines, died at her home in Des Moines. She was born November 30, 1955, at Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Pauline Abel McKinney. She graduated from the Knoxville High School, and continued her education at A.I.B. in Des Moines. She worked as an administrative assistant at Better Homes and Gardens and later at Meredith Corporation in Des Moines. She retired in 2003, due to ill health. She loved to read and sing. She was a gourmet cook. She also had a great love for the lord.

Her family includes her four sisters: Patricia Marconi of Knoxville, Vickie(Larry)Burk of Oskaloosa, Carol(Jim)Evans of Oskaloosa, and Brenda(John)Rick of Oskaloosa; three brothers: Jerry(Louise)McKinney of Knoxville, David(Eldred)McKinney of Knoxville, and Ronald McKinney of Las Vegas, Nevada; a sister in law: Margaret McKinney of Des Moines; and many nieces and nephews, including a special niece: Tristin Delaney.

She was preceded in death by her parents: three brothers: Michael McKinney, James McKinney and Michael McKinney, Sr.; a sister: Mary McKinney; and a nephew: Taylor Lewis.

Graveside memorial services and burial will be held Friday, March 11, 2011, at 1 pm at the Sandyville Cemetery at Sandyville, Iowa, with John Anenson officiating. As was Paula's wish her body has been cremated and no visitation is planned. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to Cristis Intervention.
