Mr Litteral was reported missing by Jose P Lopez, a worker on the repair crew. He was found by police about 200 yards west of the American Smelting and Refining Company gate.
A resuscitator was sent by the coroner's office, but efforts to revive Mr Litteral failed.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs Flora Litteral, a daughter, Mrs Juanell Wright, both of El Paso; a son, Jack Litteral of Oklahoma City; a sister, Carrie Jennings of Lorena, Texas and two brothers and a grandson. All out-of-town relatives will be attending the funeral.
Mr Litteral was 65. He was a resident of El Paso for 13 years and was a member of the First Methodist Church, Fraternity Masonic Lodge No 1111, El Paso Consistory No 3 and the American Legion. He was a veteran of World War I.
