Carol D. Poulson, 96, of Kearney, formerly of Elm Creek, died Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Wel-Life.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Christian Church with the Rev. Lew Champ officiating. Burial will be at Kearney Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services and one hour before services Thursday at the church.
She was born Jan. 1, 1915, in Eddyville to Max and Mazie (Gibbons) Brandt.
On March 31, 1934, she married Orval Veal. He died in 1959.
She married Frank Boyd. They divorced.
On Oct. 8, 1965, she married O.E. Poulson. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include her son-in-law, Les Blunk of Kearney; grandsons and wives, Rick and Ginger Blunk of Omaha and Scott and Diane Blunk of Papillion; sister and brother-in-law, Geraldine and Les Horn of Omaha; great-grandchildren, Christopher Blunk and his wife, T.J., of Lawrence, Kan., Lisa Duensing and her husband Brian, Jessica Blunk and Ashley Blunk, all of Omaha; and many nieces and nephews.
She graduated from Miller High School in 1932 and then attended Kearney Normal School.
Carol worked for several years in the grocery business in Elm Creek and Kearney. She also worked in the ASCS office in Kearney for several years. She enjoyed working with the Senior Citizens in Elm Creek.
She was an avid sports fan, especially of University of Nebraska at Kearney and University of Nebraska-Lincoln athletics. She also enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing and taking bus tours.
In addition to her husbands, Carol was preceded in death by a daughter, Chadean F. Blunk; brothers, Darrell Brandt, LeGene Brandt and Duane Brandt; and sister, Lyndell Pierce.
Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church in Kearney or Elm Creek.
