Geraldine "Gerry" M. Horn, age 89, of Omaha and former Kearney resident, died Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

Funeral services will be Monday, August 19, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Ragan officiating. Burial will be in the Kearney Cemetery. Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney are in charge of arrangements.

Gerry was born April 20, 1924 in Miller, Nebraska to Marx F. and Mazzy L. (Gibbons) Brandt. She attended school in Miller and was a graduate of Miller High School in 1942. She also attended Secretarial School in Olympia, Washington. Gerry married Les Horn on March 8, 1943 in North Platte, Nebraska and after his discharge from the Army in 1945 they moved to Kearney. Gerry was employed as a clerk at the ABC Drug Store and then worked in the Veterans Service Office for many years until she retired in 1979. She was a member of the Methodist Church, the VFW Auxiliary, Eastern Star in Overton and the Kearney DOES.

Surviving relatives include her husband Les of Omaha; one
daughter-Lana Christensen and her husband Mike of Omaha;
5 grandchildren-Brad Brandt and his wife Sharon of Kearney; Kylee Best of Kearney; C.J. Brandt and his wife Tina of Kearney; Cortney Christensen of Gladstone, MO; and Shanna Gillming and her husband Randy of Litchfield;
1 stepdaughter-Debbie Wagner of Omaha; 10 great grandchildren; and 1 great great granddaughter; and one
sister Carol Poulson and her husband Orie of Kearney.

She was preceded in death by 1 daughter-Linda Brandt Owens and 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
