My oldest known Johnson (Jansen) to date. My 4th Great Grandfather. The headstone shows 1782 because that is what all records found showed until a hand written bible page was presented to me on 3-28-2013 by the Historical Society of Frederick County. After 100% conformation we may need to have the headstone redone.

In the LDS information on the birth of several of his children, Erasmus is listed as Johanson in the Frederick Evangelical Lutheran church records. This is for John; Erasmus, Jr.; and for Samuel.

In the "Frederick County Militia In the War of 1812", the following appears in reference to Erasmus.

Pvt. under Capt. Nicholas Turbutt, 1 Sep 27 - Oct 1814

Married 9 Sep 1809 Ann Margaret Woodward (b. 1790), in Balt., by Rev. Kurtz, Luth. pastor;
d. Fred. Co., Oct 1827. Source: Bounty land claim 55-120-6237(or maybe 2).

In the "Jacob Engelbrecht Diary", Vol II, p. 695, the Captain Nicholas Turbutt's muster roll of 23 Jul 1848 lists Erasmus Johnson. In Vol I, p. 280, Erasmus was listed as having been buried in the Lutheran Graveyard of Frederick. He was a well-digger of Denmark or Sweden.

In the Engelbrecht Death Ledger, page 104, Erasmus is listed as a Jansen who died 1 Oct 1827 at age 45. Johnson is listed in quotes as if that is also a name which Erasmus went by. He is also listed as "Copenhagen Jansen".

He is burried UNDER the Church at www.twinspires.org according to the info that I was given from Olivet Cemetary which is where many were moved to.
