Harm and Sarah were the parents of twelve known children, Robert Haywood, who died at age 26 of a gun shot wound during an ambush, Thomas Haywood who is buried at Niles Union Cemetery, Trumbull County, Ohio, Martha Haywood who married Eddie Sparks, High Haywood, Raymond "Roy" Haywood, Mary Haywood Shrake, Jay Haywood, Beulah Martha Haywood, Ivory "Iva" Haywood Rice, Victoria Haywood Hall, Addie Mae Haywood and son Charles Haywood.
On September of 1912, Harm registered for the US Army Draft for World War I, He was listed as medium height, medium build, blue eyes, dark brown hair, married to Sarah, employed at the Limestone Company at Olive Hill, Kentucky and had lost his left hand.
The 1930 Federal Census lists Hiram, age 51, married to Sarah, eight children living at home and farming at Upper Tygart, Carter County.
Harm died at the age of 71, on February 14, 1950. he was widowed and living at 1804 Morgan Avenue, Boyd County, Kentucky, he died of "arteriosclerosis and heart failure." He was buried at the Haywood Family Cemetery, Lawton, Carter County, Kentucky.
