Our sweet mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, March 6, 2011 three weeks shy of her eighty-sixth birthday.

Dawna was born March 31, 1925 to William E. and Effie E. Dawson in Logan, UT. Her family moved to Rexburg, ID, where she grew up and graduated from Madison High School.

She met Eldon R. Anderson during World War II when she was living and working in Salt Lake City. They were married on July 26, 1945 after his honorable discharge as a Naval combat engineer. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.

They settled in Tooele, UT, where they raised three children, Kelly, Kathy, and Dan. They made and enjoyed many friendships that endured for a lifetime. They were members of the Good Sam club and when they retired were able to spend twenty-seven winters in Yuma, AZ. For many of their later years, they did sealings weekly for ten years in the Salt Lake Temple.

Family was very important to Dawna and she especially enjoyed her grand/great- grandchildren with the energy of a much younger woman. She made having fun with them a priority whether it was playing Rummy or SkipBo or just taking them to get some chicken nuggets and talk. Dawna's patience and kindness were always admired and appreciated. She was beautiful on the outside as well as the inside and was always gracious to all. She loved spending time with family and friends playing cards, going to the temple each week, and just visiting and laughing.

She was survived by her sons, Kelly (Kris), Dan, and son-in-law, Rob Jensen, sister Laree Winn, eleven grandchildren, and twenty-four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, Eldon, daughter, Kathy Jensen, grandson, Mitchell Mayfield, and siblings, Carlyle, Genesee, Pat, Eva, Gail, and Nina.

The family expresses special thanks to the Cottage Glen staff who gave her a comfortable home for the last thirty months of her life with tender loving care.

The funeral services will be held in the LDS Church, 180 South Coleman, Tooele, on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 11:00 a.m., where friends may visit at 10:00 a.m. prior to the services and at Tate Mortuary, 110 South Main Street, Tooele, on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Interment will follow in the Tooele City Cemetery.
