John Thomas, 81, formerly a resident of the vicinity northwest of Hepburn, died Sunday in Chicago where he had been living for the last six months at the home of his daughter, Mrs Harry Kile. He suffered a stroke four years ago from which he had recovered. His last illness was of ten days duration.

He was born in Hancock county, Ill., Dec 1, 1870, and was engaged in farming in the Hepburn vicinity many years. He married Mary C. Warner who preceded him in death. Their surviving children are Mildred, Torrington, Wyo; Thelma Kile, Des Planes, Ill; Christine Gould, Davenport, Ia; Mary Louise James, Omaha; Laura Stahlmann, Louisville, Neb; and Muriel Maddox, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

Mr Thomas was a member of the Presbyterian church. His body arrived in Villisca Tuesday night and was taken to the Wolfe funeral home where services will be held this Thursday at 2 pm, conducted by the Rev M.A. Robeson.
