Mrs. Ella Jane Courson Lewis , 68, beloved South Georgian and pioneer resident of Waycross, died Wednesday morning at the local hospital after a brief illness .. She lived at 617 McDonald Street .

She entered the hospital Saturday and under went a major operation on Sunday morning .

Born in the old Wayne County to one of the early families of the South Georgia ; John L. Courson and Catherine Knox Courson. She came to Waycross in her girl hood .
Mrs. Lewis was the wife of the late J.B. Lewis Sr. ; who for many years was engaged in the Naval Stores operations in Waycross ..

Mrs. Lewis was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, also of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and the King's Daughters Hospital ..

Survivors include her children:

Mrs. Ethel Cason of St. Petersburg, Florida
Herbert Lee Lewis of Albany
James B. Lewis Jr. of Waycross
Melvin Sedric Lewis of St. Petersburg, Florida

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 11 o'clock at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. R.T. Russell , Pastor of the Church which she was a member .
