Syble Bearden Akin, age 85, of Keystone Heights, died Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Haven Hospice Robert Care Center. The Bremen, Georgia native had lived in Keystone Heights for the past 25 years, coming from Jacksonville where she lived for several years. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Starke. She and her husband had also started several churches in the Jacksonville area and had been a Sunday School Teacher and Children's Choir Director. She was very active in the Lake Area Ministries in Keystone Heights and she loved to cook, fixing meals for many others. She loved her family very much and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey B. Akin, parents, Gwendolyn Drew Bearden and B.H. Bearden and 2 brothers, William E. Bearden and Hubert Clyde Bearden. She is survived by 2 daughters, Sandra Kirkland & husband Milton of Monroe, Georgia and Teresa Barnes & husband, Robert of Keystone Heights; 4 grandchildren, Keith Smith & wife, Jennifer, Greg Smith & wife, Cindy, Kathy Kirkland, and Robbie Kirkland; 9 great-grandchildren, Jonah Smith, Schuyler Smith, Tess Smith, Gabriel Smith, Stuart Smith, Aubree Smith, Cassie Schell, Sydney Schell, and Kaitlyn Schell along with several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday March 8th at the First Christian Church of Starke with Pastor Steve Hayes and Minister Keith Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Keystone Heights Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. at the church in Starke. In celebration of her life, a memorial video will be shown.
