Virginia Durham Monasch was born in Oklahoma City on May 23, 1928 to Florence and Virgil Durham. On March 3, 2011, she lost her life to Parkinson's disease. She was a graduate of Classen High School and Draughon School of Business. Her chosen profession as a court reporter led her to Lubbock, Texas, where she had a long and distinguished career at Reese Air Force Base. It was in Lubbock that she met and married Gerhard (Jerry) Monasch. After his death in 1997, she returned to the Oklahoma City area where she became a resident of the Spanish Cove Retirement Village in Yukon. She took great pleasure from the company of her cats, working the most difficult crossword puzzles she could find, and playing Scrabble with her friends. She is survived by her sister, Francel Durham Coleman; her niece, Elaine Coleman; and her nephews, Steven Coleman and Martin Coleman. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 7, 2011, at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to The Jude Ranch, 13300 S. Post Rd., Guthrie, OK 73044 (www.juderanch.org).
