Thomas Royster for nearly fifty years a miner in Peoria County, died Friday at 9:30 p.m. following a short illness. He was one of the oldest and most well known miners in the city. Thomas Royster was born in Maryland, January 9, 1855 and thus would have been 61 years of age had he lived two days longer. He was a man of industry and was highly respected by the men who knew him. He came to Peoria when he was about 10 years of age and soon after his arrival he began to work in the local mines. For many years he has been laying tracks. He is survived by a wife and 8 children. The funeral service will be held Sunday from the home at 2 o'clock and will be in charge of Rev. T.E. Munns, a minister of Bacon Memorial Church.
