Judge Shannon Is Dead

Many friends were grieved to learn of the death of Judge Hiram H. Shannon which occurred at the Pryor Hospital early Wednesday morning following a stroke of paralysis last Friday from which he never regained consciousness.

Mr. Shannon was a native of the Leeds section of Chester county and was seventy-one years of age. He spent the greater part of his life in the Leeds section where he was engaged in farming. About twenty years ago he came to Chester to make his home and for a number of years was Magistrate of Court House District assuming this office on the death of the late Judge McClure. Mr. Shannon also served as county commissioner at one time. He was a member of Calvary Baptist church in the Baton Rouge section.

Funeral services were held yesterday morning at ten-thirty o'clock at the First Baptist church in Chester after which the remains were taken to Calvary cemetery for interment. The services were conducted by Rev. E. W. Davis, of Lowrys, assisted by Dr. W. G. Moore and Rev. J. O. Mann.

Mr. Shannon is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Stewart Simpson, of Chester. Mrs. Shannon and one son died several years ago.
