Thomas Wilkes Shannon was a farmer near or in the Blackstock area of southern Chester County, born the eldest known child of the union of Moses McKeown Shannon and Sarah Ann Elmira Wilkes Shannon. Thomas W. married Jane Barclay Ross who with son Wilkes are all buried together with two infants, a son and a daughter, who apparently died at or early after birth and as was the custom of the times not chosen names. There were six other children in addition to these three births.
