NEWELLTON — Funeral services for Burl R. Cannon, 69, of Newellton were at 2 p.m. today in Bethany Baptist Church near Newellton with the Rev. J. B. Greer and the Rev. A. D. Foster officiating.

Burial was in Legion Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Winnsboro First National Funeral Home.

Mr. Cannon died at 5:15 a.m. Monday in St. Charles Memorial Hospital here.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Emma H. Cannon of Newellton; two sons, Burl R. Cannon Jr. of Broussard and Carl J. Cannon of Newellton; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Jo McLemore of Pascagoula, Miss., Miss Elsie Cannon of Tallulah and Mrs. Myrlene Glover of Vicksburg, Miss.; three brothers, Marvin Cannon of Muskogee, Okla., Raymond Cannon and Austin Cannon, both of Newellton; one sister, Mrs. Beatrice Shockley of Danville, Ark.; and nine grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Carl Tatum Jr., Jim Ezell, David Goodwin, Charlie Colvin, Robert Goodwin and Buddy Emfinger.
