BELOVED TWAIN CALLED TO REST
"Uncle Jobie" Taylor and Wife Answer Summons Home

So familiar is the memory of "Uncle Jobie" Taylor and his wife to the people of Jones County that only the mention of their names brings recollections of the most genuine respect. It is doubtful if people ever lived among their neighbors to be more loved than they.
It pains us to chronical to their multitude of friends over Jones County the sad news of the death of both of them, their demise occuring within ten days of each other, he passing away on Wednesday, January 18th and she on last Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Taylor came to Jones County in 1878, and lived here for about two score years, giving of the best days of citizenship to this county. Well did they live their lives and rear their family, a most noble one, so that when the end came they could say with most positive Christian fortitude, with the immortal Tennyson, "Let there be no mourning at the bar, When I put out to sea."
These noble parents are survived by two sons and three daughters as follows: Mayor J. T. Taylor, here (Ellisville, Robt. Taylor, Mrs. Camille Bynum, Mrs. Susie Freeman and Mrs. Laura Murray.
All their friends and acquaintances extend to them their most genuine sympathy in the loss of their parents. (Ellen Bigbie)

Mr. R. J. Taylor, aged 91 years, the father of Mrs. Murray, wife of the Methodist Minister at Foxworth, died at the home of his son-in-law Wednesday night and was buried Thursday afternoon in the Foxworth Cemetery, Rev. L. L. Roberts of this place conducting the funeral services, the Masonic brethren of Columbia and vicinity concluding the services at the grave with impressive ceremonies of that order. Mr. Taylor came here from Ellisville, his former home, and was residing with his daughter. He was a grand old man, full of years and wisdom, and made many friends during his short residence in our county. The family have the sincere sympathy of all. 20110602-4 Information provided by Shirley Fortenberry Ramshur.
