Richard David (Dick) Anderson, 86, of Orem, previously Pocatello, died Feb. 11, 1984, at the Utah Valley Hospital in Provo.

He was born May 25, 1897, in Bothwell, a son of Andrew Carl Anderson and Sophia Petronella Johnson.

He married Emma Wilma Catherine Sandstrom July 28, 1920, in the Logan LDS Temple. She died Nov. 23, 1983.

He attended school in Tremonton. He lived in Tremonton 31 years prior to moving to Pocatello 33 years ago.

He was a notable athlete in his youth. He was a World War I veteran and served as a commander for the American Legion, DeVere Watkins Post.

He served in the Sunday School presidency, as superintendent in the YMMIA, and at the time of his death was a home teacher and high priest.

Surviving are three sons and one daughter, Richard W. Anderson of Colorado Springs, Colo.; John O. Anderson of Carbondale, Ill.; David B. Anderson of Orem, Ut; and Mrs. Vern B. (Emma Rae) Eyre, Layton; 22 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Carl Nina Jensen, Ogden. Seven brothers and six sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 15, 11 a.m. in the Pocatello 17th LDS Ward Chapel on Jefferson and Walnut. Graveside services will be held at the Logan Cemetery at: 3:30.

The family suggests contributions to the Rehabilitation Program at the Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City. Arrangements are under the direction of Manning Funeral Home in Pocatello.
