CAMDEN - Caroline M. Brumber, 70, of Swartz Road, passed away on Feb. 24, 2011 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center, New Hartford.
She was born Feb. 29, 1940 in Rochester, N.Y., a daughter of Charles and Mary Garfol Steffen. She graduated from Nazareth High School in Rochester and on Oct. 24, 1962 she married Alan K. Brumber in Elkton, Md. He passed away April 21, 2005.
She moved to the Camden area in 1972. Caroline drove school bus for Camden Central Schools for 28 years. Following her retirement as a bus driver, Caroline worked for the NYS Thruway Authority. She was a member of the McConnellsville Vol. Fire Dept., the Sylvan Beach Vol. Fire Dept. and the McConnellsville Ambulance.
Surviving are three sons, Andy and Mishelle Brumber, Camden; Scott and Lynda Brumber, Hicksville, N.Y.; Luke and Robin Brumber, Canastota, N.Y.; a daughter, Maribeth and Bret Clemens, Lenoir, N.C., 8 grandchildren; Andrew, Miranda, Jacob, Lucian, Hayleigh, Michael, Stephen and Christopher, one great-grandchild, Austin; a sister, Joann Putnam, Rotonda, Fla., brother, Charles Steffen, Rochester, N.Y., along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Billy and Jimmy Steffen.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 5 p.m. from LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., Camden. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2-5 p.m., at the funeral home, 109 Main St. Following the service the family will be gathering at the American Legion, Arthur S. Moran Post No. 66, Camden.
