Mary (Adamcik) Sykora, 94, of West, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at West Rest Haven in West. A Rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with the Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mary was born in Abbott, Texas, to the late Frank and Mary (Janda) Adamcik. She attended the Ross School and St. Mary's School in West. On July 30, 1935, she was united in marriage to Henry J. Sykora in West. Mary was a homemaker and worked at the Hyatt Hotel Boutique in Dallas for 15 years and was a dental assistant for over 25 years. Mary was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. She was also a member of the Catholic daughter of America Court No. 829, the K.J.Z.T. St. Ludmilla Society No. 11, S.P.J.S.T. Lodge No. 54, and the Czech Women's Organization. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, selling Mary Kay, and entertaining guests. She especially loved spending time with her family.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband on June 22, 1965; a son, Leonard Sykora; brothers, Joe Adamcik, Frank Adamcik, Bill Adamcik, and Emil Adamcik; and a sister, Agnes Trlica.

Survivors include daughter-in-law, Joy Sykora, of West; granddaughter, Mary Faye McBride and husband, Ross, of Edgewood; great-grandchildren, Regina DuShane and husband, John, Lindsay Vaughan, Wyatt McBride, and Audrey McBride; great-great-granddaughters, Zoe and Myley DuShane; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
