JOSE "RUBEN" LEYBA, 69, a resident of Silver City, passed away at his home surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, October 7, 2010.

Rosary service will be recited at 6 o'clock, Monday, October 11, 2010 at Baca's Funeral Chapels. The Latin Funeral Mass will be celebrated, also, at Baca's on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at 10 o'clock in the morning. Interment will follow at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Cemetery. Fr. Rafael from the Monastery of Our Lady of Guadalupe will officiate.

He was born October 3, 1941 in Silver City to Guadalupe Garcia and Martin H. Leyba. He had been a carpenter by trade, truly enjoying the use of his hands, making cabinets and woodwork objects. He had a great love for his granddaughter and caring for his son.
He attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Monastery.

Ruben, as he was affectionately known, is survived by his son, Joseph and wife Valerie Leyba and their daughter Adeline of Silver City; brother, Aurelio Leyba, Moriarty;
5 sisters, Gloria Rangel and Yolanda Tafoya, Las Cruces, Belinda Chavez, Hurley, Stella Leyba, CO and Paula Gomez, Silver City; 27 nieces and nephews and a special niece, Alice Fierro and husband Eddie Torrez of Silver City.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Adelina; son, Rudy Maldonado; brother, Jesus Leyba; sister, Seferina Fierro; sister-in-law, Carmen Leyba; nephews, Ramon and Charles Leyba, and Mario Chavez; and niece, Lupe Padilla.

Serving as pallbearers will be Martin Leyba, Joe Tafoya, David Gomez, Eddie Torrez, Rudy Fierro and Daniel Medina.
