Banker. Son of John and Sianna A. (Dandridge) Williams. A.M., Univ. of Va, 1851; D. Lit. Washington and Lee Univ. 1908. Practiced law, and in 1858, became a banker. After the war, he established the house of John L. Williams & Sons; firm helped refunding of debt of S. C., established Ga. Ry., and Seaboard Air Line. Contributed for years weekly philospphical observations to Richmond journals. Vice-Pres. Am. Bible Soc. for Va.; pres. Richmond Male Orphan Soc.. Hon. Member Phi Beta Kappa (William and Mary College). Married Marie Ward Skelton, of Virginia in 1864. Address: Richmond, Va.
