He was born in Bullock County, GA on 9-9-1824 & died in Bradford County, FL on 1-24-1888. He enlisted & was mustered into CPT Mooty's Company, 9th Florida Volunteer Infantry, Confederate States Army at Orange Springs, FL on 2-16-1863. His service records verified that he enlisted for 3 years or the duration of the war. The 9th Florida Infantry was assigned to General Lee's Army of Northern for most of the War & SGT Alderman was involved in the following battles:
Olustee; Cold Harbor; Petersburg, VA defense; Ream's Station; weldon Railroad; Hatcher's Run. He had a short furlough in Gainesville, FL during September 1863, & he was with the 9th FL Infantry in Lake City, FL on 7-11-1863. He was captured, paroled & mustered out in N VA on 4-9-1865.

His family included:
Emiline N. Jones (wife; b in GA 10-30-1833; d 6-30-1905; buried next to him, filed for a Confederate Widow's Pension in 1903)
