Ethel Byron Chesterman was the daughter of Roscoe Dabney Chesterman and Mary Washington Bolton. Born in Richmond, she was the fifth great-grandaughter of William Mayo, colonial surveyor of Virginia and North Carolina, friend to Colonel William Byrd. Ethel, her husband Asa Johnson and three of her sons and their wives are buried in this Forest Lawn plot. The Chesterman family plot is in Richmond's Hollywood Cemetery.
