There is a conflict over who the mother of Willie is. Elijah was married to Charity Irene Carlton at the time of his birth, but is not listed on the census for this familty in 1880. The headstone and newspaper clipping refer to Mary Trivett as his mother, but again he is not listed on the 1880 census in Mary's home.

The home of old friend Elijah Trivett has certainly been overshadowed by a gloom dark and deep for the past few days. Edward, the 18 year old son, died on the 9th inst. and on Monday last, Willie 23 year old son, departed this life after an illness of only 1 week. The aged parents have the deepest sympathies of all in this their darkest hour.
