Mrs. Adaline Curry Morlan died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Stephan Wallar, in Marceline, Mo., September 17th. The body was brought to Barton County Sunday and was buried in the Waters Cemetery. Rev. Roy L. Bowers preached a short funeral service at the cemetery.
Mrs. Adaline Curry Morlan was born September 5th, 1853, near Ottawa, Iowa. She came to Barton County with her parents in 1866, where she was married to Erwin C. Morlan, October 21, 1869. Six children were born to this union, three of whom survive her. They are Mrs. Stephen Wallar of Marceline, Mo., George and Fred Morlan of Kansas City. Two sons and a daughter, Mrs. Ida Lane, preceded her in death, also two young men she reared to manhood. Mrs. Morlan is also survived by three sisters and one brother.
Mr. Morlan died in 1910. He and his wife were early settlers in this county and for years had a store in Dublin and a mill on Coon Creek a quarter of a mile east of Dublin. Dublin was quite a thriving little city but when it refused to give a site for a railroad depot and stockyards, they came over to Midway, which is now Jasper and Jasper thrived and Dublin went down until today there are only two houses left.
