Still Confiscated, Etiwanda Resident Taken in Custody
Following confiscation of 30-gallon copper still by state liquor control officers, Benjamin Perdew, 27 years old, was taken into custody at his home in Etiwanda yesterday by deputy sheriffs.
C.H. Shorey and W.C. Elledge of the state board of equalization said in addition to the still found at Perdew's house, they discovered two 50-gallon barrels of grain mash and a gallon and a half of whiskey.
A complaint charging Perdew with possession of a still, a felony, was filed in San Bernardino township court by Mr. Elledge, and a complaint charging him with possession of illegal whiskey, a misdemeanor, was filed in Cucamonga township court.
Perdew was arrested by Deputy Sheriffs R.W. Cornelison and E.C. Mehl and is held in the county jail.
The still was the second to have been confiscated by officers under the supervision of Tom Collins, district liquor control officer, within the past week.
