Orris Hayes Sr., 89, of Chilhowie, Virginia, native and former resident of Vilas, died Wednesday afternoon, July 4.
He was born June 18, 1895 to George and Molly Moody Hayes. He was a retired farmer and a member of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church.
He is survived by two daughters, one son, one step-daughter, one step-son four brothers, three sisters, 23 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services were conducted this afternoon at 2 p.m. at Mount Lebanon Baptist Church. Officiating was the Reverend Carl Wilson. Burial was in the Adams Cemetery.
Hampton Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.
