Alva Max Wood, resident of Berryville, AR, was born October 31, 1929 Berryville, AR, son of Dock Alonzo and Julina Mae (Meadlin) Wood. He departed this life Sunday, February 13, 2011, Berryville, at 81.

Max worked as a painter. He also proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

On June 22, 1988, Max was united in marriage with Margaret Jacobs who survives him of the home. He is also survived by four sons, Jim Wood of Kansas City, MO, Tim Wood of Nashville, TN, David Wood of Kansas City, MO and Steven Wood of Springdale, AR; three step-sons, Robert Cline of Kansas City, MO, Ronald Cline of Berryville, AR and Richard Cline of Pearl City, HI; one daughter, Lina Blanchard of Berryville, AR; one sister, Tura Beshears of Greenwood, AR; several nieces and nephews; six grandchildren: Amy, Savannah, Geoffrey, Danny, Kaitlyn and Ashton; four step-grandchildren: Haley, Hannah, Ryan and Chelsea; one great-grandchild, Cole; and a host of other family and friends.

On July 8, 1956 Max was united in marriage with his first wife, Maxine Adams who preceded him in death. He was also preceded by his parents, Dock Alonzo and Julina Mae Wood; four brothers and two sisters.

Visitation: 5-8 p.m. Thursday, February 17, 2011 at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel in Berryville. Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday, February 18, 2011 at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel with Dr. Bobby Clark officiating. Interment will follow in the Berryville Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
