Centralia

Centralia lost another of its fine pioneer citizens when death took I. S. Aydelott, at his home on the south side Tuesday morning after an illness of only a few days. He was taken ill Friday night with a hemorrhage of the lungs. He was unconscious all day Saturday but rallied and knew children and friends until Monday evening, when he became much worse, passing away Tuesday forenoon at 9:20.

Isaac Stewart Aydelott was born December 18, 1948, at Boston, Indiana., and was 86 years, 9 months and 27 days of age. He moved with his parents at an early age to Dayton, Ohio where he grew to manhood. When only a young man he moved to Nebraska where he worked at digging coal and helping haul it to DuBois, Nebr. His early life was the life of a pioneer and he saw much of the building and development of this country. He helped in the building of the first railroad through here and spent many years in the breaking of prairie sod for the settlement of other pioneer families. He was converted in Centralia and preached for many years in the Free Methodist or Holiness church. He spent many years in evangelistic work. His Christian life was a very real part of his existence3 as he went about preaching and teaching and living among his friends and neighbors. He was a great home lover and a kind husband and father. He leaves his wife and five children,

Warra and Vergil, Encampment, Wyoming; Harry, Shickley, Nebr.; George of New York City, who could not be present, and Mrs. Frank Griffin, Okmulgee, Okla. One son, Willard, died at the age of two. There are eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Aydelott was caretaker of the Centralia school for 10 years and was beloved by teachers and pupils and all who came within contact with him. Those who were associated with the school at the time of his work there will have many pleasant memories to take with them through the years. He was a resident of Centralia for 48 years, most of which were spent in active service to humanity.

Funeral service was held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. C. L. Harder. The many floral offerings were beautiful. Music was furnished by Josiah Sams, Oscar Darr, Mrs. Hamer Barrett and Mrs. E. A. McBee and Ava Mae Ward. Interment was made in the Centralia cemetery.
