DEATH OF MRS. B. T. BRIGGS.

Mrs. Lucy Briggs, wife of B. T. Biggs, died at her home in this village last Saturday afternoon, after an illness of but a few days. The immediate cause of her death was congestion of the lungs. Mrs. Briggs was the daughter of Daniel Short of Richmond, and a sister of Spencer D. and Daniel Short, and Mrs. Alden Pemberton. Her age was 61 years. Mrs. Briggs was an active member of the Baptist church, and an earnest temperance worker. The Woman's Christian Temperance Union, of which she was a member, attended the funeral, which was held at the Baptist church Tuesday forenoon at half-past eleven, the Rev. Mr. Sands officiating. Mrs. Briggs was a noble woman, whose whole life had been spent in doing good, and the entire community, not less than her bereaved husband and near relatives, has met with a loss which is irreparable.
