Spencer's wife, Lorinda A. Pitts, was born the 21st of April 1842 in the town of Richmond, Ontario County, New York. Lorinda died on the 6th of August 1920, in Honeoye, Richmond Township, Ontario County, New York. She was the daughter of Gideon and Jane (Wells) Pitts.

Spencer D. Short

A lifelong resident of the town of Richmond, died last Saturday at his home. He had many friends, and was widely known. He was born July 31, 1832 and has always been a farmer, and a man who took a great deal of interest in the Hemlock Fair. He has been actively identified with the best interests of the community, holding offices of trust and honor, and for several successive terms holding the office of supervisor.

He leaves a wife and six children, to mourn the loss of a kind good husband and loving father namely. The family Mrs. E. O. Terry of East Bloomfield, Mrs. J. B. Borhwell, of Breckenridge, Mo.; Wells S. Short, of Orange City, Iowa; Mrs. W. H. Ellis, of Livonia, N. Y.; Ralph R. Short, of Cle-Elum, Washington, and Gideon Pitts Short, Elensburgh, Washington, besides 19 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Death of Gideon Pitts Short

Word has been received of the death of Gideon Pitts Short of Ellensburg, Wash. He was stricken with a shock while at his office, and did not recover consciousness.

Mr. Short was a native of the town of Richmond, N. Y., born on the old Short homestead, the son of the late Spencer D. and Lorinda Pitts Short. He was graduated from Lima Seminary and Cornell university, and also attended Williams college. Upon completing his studies he began the practice of law in Seattle, Wash. He later opened an office at Cle Elum, Wash., then at Ellensburg, which had since been his home.

He leaves a wife, two sons, three daughters and seven grandchildren; also one brother, S. Wells Short of Orange City, la., and two sisters, Mrs. E. D. Terry of Brockport and Mrs. W. H. Ellis of Avon.
