Evelyn H. BUCHER, 61, Lot 23, Village Hamlet, North Manchester, died at 10 p.m. Monday in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. She had been in failing health 14 months. She was born Feb. 20, 1923 in Ivyton, Ky., to Oscar and Samantha CRACE HOPKINS, and was a lifelong resident of the Akron and North Manchester areas. She was married to Earl D. BUCHER, who died May 4, 1970. She was a member of the Silver Creek Church of God. Surviving are a daughter, Linda UTTER, North Manchester; two sons, Elbie [BUCHER], Sarasota, Fla., and Tom [BUCHER], Rt. 2, Silver Lake; a step-daughter, Myra WADE, California; a step-son, Jim, Rt. 1, Akron; the mother, Samantha HOPKINS, Akron, and three sisters, Elloree FLETCHER and Josephine BUCHER, both of Akron, and Earlene STONE, Fort Wayne. A sister, Irene [HOPKINS], and a step-brother, Lonnie HOPKINS, preceded in death. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Foster & Good funeral Home in Akron with the Rev. Randy L. SAMUELS officiating. Burial will be in the Silver Creek Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, and on Thursday from 9 a.m. until time of service.
