Mrs. Jennie Flowers.
On the morning of May 15th the death angel entered the home of Mr. Abram Flowers and claimed for its own his beloved mother, Mrs. Jennie Flowers, aged 81 years. She had been ill for several weeks, and all was done for her that loving hands could do, but the Lord had called her home, where there is no more sorrow.
Her funeral was preached by Rev. Emory Crumpacker on Saturday afternoon at Jeter's Chapel and interment was made in the chapel cemetery, beside her husband, who preceded her to the grave fourteen years ago.
Mrs. Flowers had been a member of the Brethren Church for a number of years. She is survived by the following children: Mrs. Nora Duncan and Mrs. Lula Mays, of Roanoke; Otis Flowers, of Crewe; Landon, Abram, George and Wiley Flowers, of Vinton, Route 1; McKinley and Dewey Flowers, of Roanoke; and a large number grandchildren. Flowers were carried by granddaughters, were many and beautiful.
A precious one from us is gone,
A voice we love is still
A vacant place is in our home
That never can be filled.
Written by a friend, Mrs. Lucy Drewry.
