Frederick was a zealous patriot and served in the Continental Army during the Revolution.

He is listed in the D.A.R. He is listed in "The History of Sussex County, New Jersey" and "The History of Warren County, New Jersey.

Frederick was married 3 times, his first wife, Margaret Waldorf (1743-1777) died when she was only 34 years old but gave him 8 children: Anthony, George, John, Anna, Margaret, Rachel, Moses and Elizabeth

His second wife, Margaret Krater (1755-1800) died at age 45, and gave him 7 children: Mary, Frederick Jr., Catharine, Sarah, Samuel, Susan and Isaac.

His third wife was Elizabeth West. They married January 1804. He and Elizabeth had no children.

Frederick's parents were Anna Elizabeth Windemuth and Johannes Schnauber (name changed to Snover in America).
