Herbert P Eisenbraun was the son of Peter Emmanuel and Maria Eisenbraun Eisenbraun. He was the youngest of 10 children born to the couple and lost his mother before he was a year old. His father quickly remarried but Herbert lost his new step-mother ? Nachtigal within 6 months of his father's marriage. He received a second step-mother within a few months. Her name was Elisabeth Margaretha Traxel and he soon had 7 more siblings. Not all of the children survived to come to the US when the family immigrated in 1905.
