Melita Eisenbraun was born 13 May 1904 in Worms, Odessa, Russia to Peter Emmanuel and Elisabethe Margarethe Traxel Eisenbraun. She came to the United States with her family as a young child of 4-5 and settled in South Dakota.

She married Victor Ochsner about 1926 and they had four children. Lucia Elizabeth, Bruno Theodore, Warner Calvin and Ernest Victor.
