He had been a Presbyterian member of the Cle Elum Community Church since 1935. He was a long time member of the V.F.W. Douglas A. Munro Post 1373. He had served as Commander and as Chaplain. He had served on the South Cle Elum Town Council, South Cle Elum School Board and the South Cle Elum Volunteer Fire Department.
