DEATH OF MRS. LORETTA ALEXANDER
Word has been received here by relatives of the death of Mrs. Loretta R. ALEXANDER, Who passed away at the home of her son Frank in Chicago. She had been in failing health for several weeks. Mrs. Alexander lived in our midst until recent years, when she went to Chicago to make her home. She has many friends here who deeply sympathize with the family in their loss. Funeral services were held in Chicago Saturday.
OBITUARY --
Loretta RUSSELL was born at Paris, Indiana, March 16, 1846, the daughter of Dr. B. F. RUSSELL and Charlotte RUSSELL.
She lived with her parents in Paris until her marriage to John C. ALEXANDER, of Fairfield, Illinois, in September, 1874.
She resided in Fairfield until April 1902, when she went to Chicago to make her home with her son, Frank R. ALEXANDER. She continued to reside there until her death, February 19, 1919 at 6 o'clock p.m., at the age of 72 years, 11 months and 3 days.
Her husband departed this life in July 1898.[1897]
Shortly after her marriage she joined the Cumberland Presbyterian church of Fairfield. During all the years of her residence, there she was one of the most faithful, active and devoted members. For many years she served as superintendent of the Sunday School of that church.
Five years ago she transfered her membership to the St. James Methodist Episcopal church of Chicago, of which church she was a faithful attendant.
Mrs. ALEXANDER was of a deeply religious nature. She had two great interests in life, her home and her church.
One child was born of the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander. F. R. ALEXANDER, of Chicago. She is survived by her son, his wife Martha J. Alexander and three grand-children, Russell G., John Kenneth and Mildred Halley.
She is also survived by three step-children. Mrs. Elizabeth LUSTER of Fairfield, Illinois, John ALEXANDER, of Bloomington, Illinois and Miss Zeralda ALEXANDER of Springfield, Illinois, to whom, as well as to her son she was a devoted mother.
She is also survived by a sister Mrs. Magdaline Burdsal of Hanover, Indiana.
Those in attendance from outside of Chicago were: John ALEXANDER, of Bloomington, Miss Zeralda ALEXANDER, of Springfield, and Mr. and Mrs. C. E. LUSTER, of Fairfield.
