William was the son of Samuel Heater. He married Anna Maria Hanselman in PA. They were the parents of 15 children, 10 living in 1900: J Francis (1856-1920, John Hobson), "Hattie" Henrietta (George Long), Jennie Mae N Dakota (1860-1935, Wm. McCullough), Henry Ellsworth, Keturia Elizabeth (1949 Guthrie co (Thomas L. Herron), Samuel (1865), Lewis Fredeline (1865), Orinso August, Franklin (1869), William E. (1871), Charles Monroe (1875-1937), and Corda Helen (1878-1952, Loren Muckey).

Feb 7, 1911 Tuesday - Carroll Sentinel - William S. Heater died last Friday evening at the home of his son, "Freat", of old age being in his 77th year.

He was born in Pennsylvania in 1833, where he was married. Later moved to Illinois and finally to Carroll county, on the old McLaughlin farm, east of town 33 years ago, thus being one among the old settlers. While he lived at various times in some adjoining counties. Coon Rapids was always his post office address.

He was a man well respected and kindly remembered by all of the old settlers still living. Mrs. Heater died three years ago, since which time he made his home with his son, Lewis, "Freat" Heater.

There were ten children in the family five boys and five girls, all living. They are: Lewis, William E., Ora, Charles, and Samuel, Mrs. John Hobson, Mrs. George Long, Mrs, Wm. McCulla, Mrs. T.L. Herron and Mrs. Loren Muckey. All were present at the funeral excepting Samuel, who lives in California, and Mrs. Muckey, who resides in Nebraska. The services were held at the Christian church, the sermon being preached by Elder Miller in the presence of a large number of friends. Coon Rapids Enterprise
