Funeral services for Louis F. Heater, 74, who died Tuesday at his farm home east of Coon Rapids, were held at the Christian church here yesterday afternoon. He had been in failing health for some time. The Rev. John J. Gabriel and the Rev. Roy Nelson were in charge of the services at the church and at the grave in the Coon Rapids cemetery. Mrs. Jack Russell and Mrs. Charles Rippey sang, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Charles Swain. Casketbearers were Henry Gustoff, John Davis, Eric Strandberg, Mike Miller, Jim Murrane and Henry Venteicher. Louis Fredeline Heater, son of William S. and Anna M. Heater, was born June 3, 1868, in Illinois and died October 6, 1942 at his home in Greene county, Iowa at the age of 74 years, four months and three days. He came to Iowa with his parents in 1873 to a farm south of Coon Rapids and spent most of his life in this vicinity. In 1892, he married Sarah Bailey and to them was born one son, Clint, now of Guthrie Center. She died in 1896. In 1902 he married Martha A. Titus, who with their two children, Hilda (Mrs. Russell Smith) of Scranton, and Vernon of Bayard, survive him. He also leaves eight grandchildren; three brothers, Sam and William of Long Beach, California, and Ora of Gooding, Idaho; and three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Herron and Mrs. Etta Long of Coon Rapids, and Mrs. Cora Muckey of Boone.
