Sarah Ann Powell, daughter of Henry and Mary Ann Talbert, was born at Covington, IN, Jan 6, 1853, and departed this life Jan 9, 1937, at the age of 84 years and 3 days. When but eleven years old her mother died and left her a great share in the care of the large household. She kept house for her brothers and father until her marriage to William Bowman in 1872. In 1877 her husband was killed during an electrical storm, leaving the young widow and their 3 children: Jesse H, Lewis F and Mary Venetta. In 1880 she was united in marriage to Zeno Powell. To this union were born 5 children: Harvey O, Marcia, Lynn A, Ernest G, and Ruth A. Five children are left to mourn the death of a devoted mother. With these are 8 grandchildren, 2 half-sisters and 1 great-grandson, Loren Hatch Dennison. During the past seven years a grandson, Richard Butler, has shared her home and care as she was able. For more than 60 years she was a member of the Christian church and lived a quiet, consistent Christian life. She was also a member of the WRC and the WCTU. The funeral service was held at the Hatch chapel Monday afternoon and burial was made at Mt Clark Cemetery.
