Mr. George Valentine Ropp, 79, native Dewey resident, died at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday at his home in Dewey, Okla.

Funeral services for Mr. Ropp will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday in the Arnold Moore-Dewey Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. David T. Mabon of the East Bartlesville Christian Church will be the officiant. The James H. Teel American Legion Post #105 and the Dewey, V. F. W. Post #10099 will accord him full military rites at the graveside. Committal prayers and interment will be directed in the Dewey Cemetery by The Arnold Moore-Dewey Funeral Home.

A memorial in remembrance of Mr. Ropp has been established to the Veteran's Memorial Wall of Honor to be installed in the Washington Park Mall. Friends who care to remember him in this way, may forward their gifts to Wall of Honor, Veteran's Memorial, 2350 S. E. Washington Blvd., Bartlesville, OK 74006.

Mr. Ropp will lie in state in the Arnold Moore-Dewey Funeral Home where friends may call for their visitation until the service hour on Monday afternoon.

George Valentine Ropp was born in Dewey on November 8, 1924. He was the son of the late Walter Ross and Betty Sue (Haggard) Ropp. He was reared and received his education in the Dewey community. He was enlisted in the United States Navy on January 26, 1943 and he received his Honorable Discharge on December 26, 1946. He and the former Miss Barbara June Bowers were married on May 24, 1952 and they made their home in Dewey. Mr. Ropp was formerly employed by the Dewey Portland Cement Plant and was retired from Superior Casting. Since that time, Mr. and Mrs. Ropp have continued living in Dewey in retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Barbara June (Bowers) Ropp, of the Dewey home; six sons, Jacob Timothy "Tim" Ropp and wife Janice, Ochelata, Okla., Donald Wayne "Don" Ropp and wife Deanna, Delaware, Okla., Richard Allen Ropp and wife Nina, Dewey, Okla., Roger William Ropp and wife Charice and George Anthony "Andy" Ropp and wife Debbie , all of Bartlesville and Jeffrey Bryan "Jeff" Ropp and wife Marla, New Castle, Okla.; 13 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Walter Ropp, Deer Creek, Okla. and Carl Ropp, Dewey, Okla. and one sister, Mrs. Florence Hedges, Norfolk, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his father; mother; five brothers, William Ropp, Edward Ropp, Henry Ropp, John Ropp, Ray Ropp and two sisters, Betty and Martha.
