Charles W. "Chick" Richardson, 88, Alexandria, died Feb. 15, 2011, at the Alexandria Care Center after a brief illness.

He was born Oct. 3, 1922, in Alexandria, the son of Perry O. Richardson and Mary Inez (Manning) Richardson, and lived in Alexandria on the same piece of ground in Innisdale all of his life, and in the same house he built himself since 1957.

Charlie graduated from Alexandria High School Class of 1940. He served with the United States Army during World War II. He worked for Delco Remy for 10 years. He then founded and owned R & E Tool and Engineering in Alexandria for several years. After retirement, he continued to work in area tool and die shops. He attended the Innisdale United Brethren Church. Chick was a life member of the Alexandria Elks 478, where he had been named Elk of the Year, the Alexandria Eagles 1771 and the Alexandria Veterans of Foreign Wars 1552.

Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Garcia of Alexandria and Diana (Phil) Reismiller of Frankton; a son, Jim "Bub" (Marge) Richardson of Alexandria; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, George Richardson of Monterey, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 64 years, June Richardson, in 2010; two brothers, James Richardson and Robert Richardson; and a sister, Mary Ruth Morgan.

Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Friday at Owens Funeral Home, 412 N. Harrison St., Alexandria, with Pastor Randy Murphy officiating.

Interment will follow in Park View Cemetery with military honors by the Elwood VFW 5782.
