WARREN O MATZEN

Warren O. Matzen, 68, of 16230 Lax Chapel Rd., Kiel, died Sunday, June 2, 1996 at the home of his special friend, Ionne Brandt.
He was born April 28, 1928 in New Holstein, son of the late Arno and Marcella Konz Matzen. He attended Lowell Grade School on Meggers Road and was a 1946 graduate of New Holstein High School. On Nov. 29, 1952 he married Betty Jane Kubale in Kiel. His wife preceded him in death on May 1, 1993.
He was a veteran of the US Army serving as a corporal from November 1950 to November 1952 with the 486th Transportation Truck Batallion, European command. He was previously employed by Chilton Automotive, Arps Co. in New Holstein and Lakeshore Lumber Co. in Sheboygan and for the past 35-plus years was self-employed as a carpenter contractor holding Sheboygan Contractors license # 36.
He was a member of Bethel Methodist Church in the town of Schleswig, VFW Wolf-Olson Post 1230 in Sheboygan, Fraternal Order of Eagles in Chilton, and received numerous commendations from the Boy Scouts of America, Bay-Lakes Council, Indian Mounds District. He loved to travel, go dancing, play cards, go fishing and work with wood and metal.
Survivors include one son, James (Laura) Matzen of rural Plymouth; one daughter, Doris (David) Nisleit of West Bend; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother, Francis (Lee) Matzen of Bell Vista, Ark.; one sister, Marion (Gerald) Boardman of Manchester, Iowa; half-sister, Shirley (Robert) Ficks of Sugar Land, Texas; his mother-in-law, Hedwina Kubale of Manitowoc; and special friend Ionne Brandt of rural Plymouth.
Funeral services were held at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home in Kiel with the Rev. Deana Hamel officiating. Burial will be in the Schleswig Cemetery in Rockville.
